Franklin County backs Mental Health Empowerment Summit and related programming with several grants and vendor agreements

Franklin County commissioners on April 29 approved a $259,000 grant to Trevitt New Life on behalf of the 20 Second Foundation and several vendor agreements to support the Franklin County Mental Health Empowerment Summit and associated events.
D’Amico Withers, chief economic equity and inclusion officer, described the funding as supporting community engagement and health-and-wellness programming including music- and arts-based approaches to promote mental health, plus a resource guide to be co-branded with ADAMH. David Kimbrough, deputy director of strategic initiatives, said the guide will be available in print and digital form and the summit on May 19 will include clinicians, national and local speakers, and an intergenerational session for youth and seniors.
Resolutions approved include a $259,000 grant for programming and events (Res. 31025) and vendor agreements to produce and promote the summit resource guide and materials: Leadership At Its Best ($11,250, Res. 31125), 100 Black Men of Central Ohio ($40,000, Res. 31225) and Warhol on Wall Street ($12,000, Res. 31325). Commissioners recorded approval of the resolutions during the meeting.
Commissioner Boyce, joining remotely from Washington, urged wider distribution and framed the resource book as a single, easy-to-use directory of local mental-health and addiction services. County officials said the summit and related events are intended to reduce stigma, increase access to resources and connect attendees with clinicians and service providers.
Next steps: the county will finalize vendor agreements, produce the guide and proceed with the May 19 summit and other scheduled events over the summer.
