The Franklin County data center presented the county's redesigned website and requested a small contract modification to support the launch of the '1 Franklin County' portal, which staff said will go live May 14.
Data center staff said the refreshed site is the product of extensive user research and will include language translation, improved search and an interactive map to help residents locate services. "We conducted 13 focus-group workshops with about 140 residents and 60 staff," Sarah Gray, government experience manager with the data center, said, describing the user-centered design process that informed the site.
Commissioners and administration emphasized outreach and promotion. Joy Bivens, deputy county administrator for Health and Human Services, commended staff for the site's user-friendliness and said it will help residents find services more efficiently. Kenneth Wilson, county administrator, recommended deploying mobile units and testing kiosks at public events so residents can "test drive" the new site before and after launch. "We still need feedback once we roll it out," Wilson said, noting the project reflects continued efforts to make county services accessible.
The board voted to approve Resolution 24225, a $19,283.03 contract modification with Granicus LLC for customer-experience services related to the site (revising the contract to $662,459.03), and also approved Resolution 24325, a $3,887 agreement with Intelenetics for a document migration that officials said supports operational continuity.
Officials said the website rollout will be paired with communications and outreach plans to ensure residents can find and use services, and that further technical questions can be addressed by data-center staff following the launch. The board approved the contract adjustments and thanked staff for their work.
