Franklin Soil & Water highlights Earth Day events and conservation work

Wilson and Sedmack described the district’s work: environmental education to more than 20,000 students annually, stream and wetland restoration, technical assistance for rain gardens, rebates for native plants, rain barrels and compost bins, and $150,000 distributed to local community gardens through the Franklin County urban agricultural critical infrastructure grant. The presenters said the district’s mission closely matches its 1946 founding purpose and emphasized long-standing support from the county.
They promoted two public events: a soil health workshop with Ohio State Extension at the new facility at 2548 Carmack Road on April 23 at 5:30 p.m., and Clinton Township’s annual Earth Day on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The presenters encouraged residents to volunteer and use the Franklin Soil & Water website for more information.
Commissioners underscored the Big Darby watershed’s importance and noted the district’s plans to update the Big Darby Accord and review past successes.
