Franklin County approves $1 million annual agreement with 1 Columbus; staff cite 2,500 local jobs expected

Franklin County approved an annual economic development partner agreement with 1 Columbus at its May 20 meeting. The $1,000,000 investment is intended to support business attraction, retention and job creation activities in the county.
Emmanuel Torres of the county’s Economic Development and Planning Department presented the resolution and said staff anticipate the partnership will support projects that could yield about 2,500 jobs in Franklin County. A representative of 1 Columbus highlighted the organization’s long partnership with the county and reviewed multi‑year regional metrics including project counts, job creation and capital investment.
During roll call the board adopted Resolution 425 with Commissioner Boyce recorded as abstaining. Officials said the agreement continues an existing county investment in centralized economic development efforts and directed staff to finalize the partner agreement and begin tracking project pipeline and performance metrics.
