Franklin County renews Everbridge mass-notification contract and approves supplemental siren funding

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners on June 24 approved a five-year renewal of the county's Everbridge critical event management and mass-notification system and authorized supplemental funding for outdoor siren work.
Jeff Young, representing Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security, described Resolution 49625 as a renewal under an existing GSA contract for the Everbridge platform at a total cost of $2,143,199.60. Young said the system delivers alerts via SMS, email, voice and social publishing and serves as a required third-party connection to the federal Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts for the most critical life-safety notifications. He said the renewal continues minimal changes to previous contract pricing and preserves partner-agency access and branding.
On Resolution 49525, Thomas Page, alerting and warning manager, said the county's warning-siren program is adjusting funding after local jurisdictions identified additional needs during implementation. Page said some sirens are out of production and now exceed the ability to purchase repair parts, requiring replacements. He identified roughly six additional projects beyond the 13 originally projected, citing New Albany and Gahanna as examples where construction or roundabout work necessitated relocations.
Commissioners moved, seconded and adopted both resolutions. The record shows unanimous 'Yes' votes by Commissioners Boyce and Crawley. Staff said Everbridge's renewal supports county and partner agency alerting for incidents including utility outages and other critical events; Emergency Management will work with local jurisdictions to sequence siren relocations and replacements.
