Grandview proclaims Arbor Day, recognizes Job 1 week; resident thanks city for chamber event

Mayor Linda B. Jones read two proclamations during the Sept. 23 meeting: an Arbor Day proclamation declaring Oct. 7, 2025, as the city's Arbor Day and noting Grandview's recognition as a Tree City USA; and a proclamation recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month and designating Sept. 28–Oct. 4, 2025, as Job 1 week, commending Job 1 for employment services for people with disabilities.
Mayor Jones encouraged citizens to attend the city's Arbor Day event at City Hall on Oct. 7 and to support local tree-care efforts. The Job 1 proclamation, attested by City Clerk Melissa Hape, thanked Job 1's founders and staff and described outreach events planned for the week.
During public comment, Liz Ogle of Grandview thanked city staff—particularly Parks and Recreation—for support of the chamber's "Bash on Buyers" event, calling it "one of our best events yet" and noting staff assistance was critical to its success. The mayor and aldermen echoed thanks to staff for recent events and city facilities improvements.
No formal action beyond proclamation readings occurred during public comment; the board opened and closed the public-comment period in sequence and later moved to consent and business items.
