Pflugerville staff on Aug. 21 detailed plans for Deutschland Fest 2025, including layout changes, vendor recruitment, headline performers and a reworked fun-run format intended to integrate the run with the festival.
Staff said Deutschland Fest will run Friday evening and Saturday daytime (detailed schedule in staff materials) and will again include a beer garden. The Ferris wheel will be moved into the music area to create a teen-oriented viewing spot, and staff plan to add city booths inside the beer-garden footprint to centralize outreach and contest operations.
Vendor recruitment is focusing on Texas or Texas–German crossover vendors; staff said they are halfway to their vendor goal and are offering a marketing toolkit to help vendors promote attendance. The food zone currently lists space for nine vendors; staff reported early success recruiting a schnitzel vendor for the first time.
Ticket sales have begun, and staff said early purchases show strong interest tied to the Saturday headliner Easy Band. Staff also requested commissioners’ help identifying sponsor leads and vendors.
A new fun-run format will start inside the festival: participants will use charter buses to access the event from field parking, start the run from within the grounds, and run a roughly 5K (staff described it as about 3.2 miles, noting it is not a sanctioned race and participants can stop or turn around at will). The run will include hydration stations, restrooms, cheer stations and polka musicians along the route.
Staff said community vendors and school and nonprofit groups will be moved into a transitional area between Pfluger Park and Gillen Creek Park to increase exposure to festival attendees; fees for that space are expected to be nominal and set by a subcommittee. Staff asked the commission to help recruit vendors and sponsors and said they will return with additional operational details.
