City outlines Deutschenfest 2025 plans: vendors, entertainment and logistics

Organizers gave the Parks and Recreation Commission a detailed preview of Deutschenfest 2025, including vendor totals, entertainment schedules, contest formats and site logistics.
Staff said the festival will run Friday and Saturday (the 17th and 18th), with Friday operating 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Organizers reported filling 27 of 29 premium Berlin vendor spaces and 18 of 24 Munich‑level vendor spaces, plus community booths and city booths in the beer garden. Food vendor planning prioritizes variety over duplication; staff said nine food spaces will be used and currently four food trucks and two food‑tent vendors are confirmed.
The entertainment lineup will include local and regional acts across the weekend: two Friday bands beginning at 5:30 p.m., with American Gypsy as a Friday headliner; Saturday’s schedule includes the Austin Polka Band followed by Jolie and the Jackalopes and other acts. Family programming in the Wonder Park kids zone will feature carnival rides, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painters and a DJ. Contests will include pretzel‑eating and stein‑holding events; organizers said the pretzel format will change this year to a single pretzel race to reduce food waste.
The fun run returns to the festival footprint and will start at Pfluger Park; organizers said the 5k route goes toward Windermere Park and that the fun run shirt grants admission to the festival both days. Shuttle plans include using the East parking lot of Pflugerville High School on Friday and a different field on Saturday to transport attendees to the park.
Organizers encouraged commissioners to consider staffing a city booth or participating in outreach at the festival.
