The Creve Coeur City Council voted unanimously to approve an arts‑committee recommendation to deaccession and remove three sculptures currently installed in city parks.
Public information officer Lisonbee Bradford presented the committee's request, saying the pieces meet two criteria in the city's deaccession policy: the committee found the works have "little aesthetic, historical, or cultural value" and that they require restoration beyond their value. Bradford said the artist had contacted staff and "expressed his full support for the removal of the artwork," asking that the pieces be dismantled and discarded.
Council members expressed mixed reactions in the meeting record; several said they enjoyed the sculptures and asked whether the existing concrete pads could be repurposed or whether replacement pieces might be installed more intentionally in the future. Bradford said the committee considered placement and visibility and that removal would include restoring the sites.
Council approved the motion to remove the pieces by roll call vote.
