The Creve Coeur City Council unanimously approved a two‑year extension to the city's leaf‑collection contract at a set hourly rate of $400, staff said.
Public works director Jim Hines described the recommendation and noted the contractor has helped the city maintain schedule and timeliness since a post‑COVID bid process. "We're recommending to go ahead and approve the the 2 year extension," Hines said, adding the increase reflects two trucks, a vacuum unit and a ground crew. He said the approach has kept work moving without lengthy trips to disposal sites.
Council members asked about crew size and cost‑effectiveness; staff said crews typically include three ground workers plus the truck drivers and that the annual cost for the service is approximately $60,000. Council also discussed whether the service could be brought in‑house; staff said outsourcing produced efficiencies but that fully outsourcing would require broader operational changes.
The council voted by roll call and the resolution passed unanimously.
