Council authorizes $51,692 stormwater design amendment for three neighborhood projects

The Creve Coeur City Council voted to authorize amendment number 1 to the design contract with Trek Design Group LLC, approving final engineering services for three neighborhood stormwater projects — Mason Forest Drive, Fern Park Drive and Bellington Lane — for a not-to-exceed amount of $51,692.20.
City Engineer Steve Perez summarized the work and schedule, saying the three projects "all address structural flooding," explaining that the problems are mainly from side-yard runoff that has produced basement and window-well flooding in some locations. Perez told the council staff expects final design to take roughly six to nine months and said the projects are being grouped to achieve efficiencies in bidding and construction.
Perez also said developers working in nearby subdivisions have been coordinating with staff; if a developer completes their planned work, that could remove certain items from the city’s list. Councilmembers asked clarifying questions about project sequencing, additional projects coming into the pipeline and whether costs would need to be placed in future capital budgets. Staff responded that other projects are in design and that the city is planning for capital coordination over the coming years.
The council approved resolution 1772 on a recorded vote and directed staff to proceed with final design and next steps toward procurement.
