Local salon owner asks council for two‑hour parking and blue markings to improve ADA access downtown

At the Sept. 15 Warrensburg council meeting, downtown business owner Sarah Chapman described persistent parking congestion outside her salon at 407 North College and Cortland and asked the council to consider installing two‑hour parking limits and repainting blue (accessible) parking markings near her corner location to improve customer access and ADA access for clients with wheelchairs and walkers.
Chapman said she has not had two‑hour parking or snow removal at that corner during the five years she has faced increasing encroachment by nearby parked vehicles, and she said on some days customers must park far away and she escorts them in the street to the business entrance. The council asked Chapman to remain after the meeting so staff could follow up and promised staff would look into options for signage, pavement markings, and on‑street loading or timed parking enforcement.
Council thanked Chapman for attending and said staff would meet with her after the meeting to discuss possible solutions and next steps.
