Planning commission approves beer-and-wine permit for Tacos Los Cholos at 7127 Pacific Blvd.

The Huntington Park Planning Commission on the evening it met approved a conditional use permit allowing the on‑sale of beer and wine at Tacos Los Cholos, a 3,930‑square‑foot restaurant at 7127 Pacific Blvd.

Planning assistant Adeli told commissioners staff supports PC case 202504CUP and recommended approval because the proposed use is permitted in the Downtown Specific Plan (District A — Gateway) provided a CUP is granted. Adeli said the restaurant’s proposed hours are Monday–Thursday and Sunday 11 a.m.–10 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 11 a.m.–midnight, and that no tenant improvements or building expansions are proposed. “Type 41 license authorizes the sale of beer and wine for consumption on or off the premises,” Adeli said, and staff cited a CEQA exemption for existing facilities (Article 19, Section 15301).

During brief questioning, the chair and staff asked the applicant about storage for alcoholic beverages; the applicant (identified by staff as Jose Maldonado) said beverages would be kept in a single storage room. The public hearing was opened and, with no public speakers, closed.

A motion to approve PC case 202504CUP was made and seconded and passed on a roll‑call vote. Commissioners recorded affirmative votes from Commissioner Estrada, Vice Chair Tarango, Commissioner Tapia and Commissioner Flores. No opposing votes were recorded. The commission’s approval allows the applicant to pursue a Type 41 ABC license and operate on‑sale beer and wine at the specified hours, subject to any standard conditions the city attaches to CUPs.

The planning staff cited Huntington Park Municipal Code provisions governing conditional use permits in the DTSP and noted standard conditions of approval to regulate alcohol service. The approval did not include tenant improvements; any required building‑and‑safety work must be completed under separate permits.

The commission moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
