Raytown aldermen approve property purchase, grant application and equipment contracts

The Raytown Board of Aldermen on Aug. 19 approved several resolutions and budget actions covering a property purchase, a grant application, equipment acquisition and pavement markings.
Property purchase and budget amendment: The council approved a resolution to purchase property at 10312 East 60 Third Street and to amend the FY24–25 budget for that acquisition and minimal occupancy improvements. Staff said the previously approved process from the June 17 session has moved forward and presented the funding request. The total cost cited at the meeting for purchase and minimum upgrades (parking, interior flooring, ADA compliance, a trash enclosure and security system) was $325,000. The motion carried unanimously.
Grant application (vehicle): The board authorized staff to submit a $50,000 grant application associated with the city’s Blue Shield designated-community status. The presenter (identified as Chief) described the grant as qualifying for vehicle purchase to support operations and said the designation enabled the application. The motion to apply was approved unanimously.
Salt spreader racks — $119,916: Public Works recommended a sole-source purchase from United Products ICM Corporation for salt spreader racks, not to exceed $119,916. Staff said the quoted kits replace deteriorated wooden racks with powder-coated metal kits and that the quoted $116,966 covers two sets sized for different truck widths; an additional $2,955 covers delivery for a $119,916 total. Council members asked whether covers or additional features could be added later and how salt is loaded; staff explained salt is kept covered in a separate barn and trucks are loaded with loaders. The motion passed unanimously on roll call.
Pavement markings — Heartland Traffic Services, up to $65,000: Staff requested continuation of the city’s contract with Heartland Traffic Services for citywide pavement markings and to move funds into the correct account. Staff said the company won the original RFP and the contract covers a second year of service. Council approved the budget amendment and contract continuation by roll call.
