The Raytown Board of Aldermen held a public hearing Tuesday and approved the city—s 2025 property tax levy following an explanation of revised assessed values from Jackson County.
City staff presented updated assessment figures and explained the recommended levy rates: a general operating fund rate of 0.2663 and a parks and recreation fund rate of 0.133, for a combined city levy of 0.3993. Staff noted assessed value changes reduced real estate assessed values compared with the prior year and described how levy rates and assessed values interact; staff estimated the general fund levy at 0.2663 would produce an estimated $1,300,000 (figure provided in staff materials) under the current calculations.
During the public hearing the mayor opened the floor for comments; no substantive public testimony about the levy was recorded and the mayor closed the hearing. A motion to approve the ordinance setting the 2025 levies was made and the Board recorded roll call votes; staff then confirmed the levy will be submitted to Jackson County and loaded into the State of Missouri levy system by the Oct. 1, 2025 deadline.
The action at the meeting set the city—s official levy rates for the general operating and parks funds for calendar year 2025. Staff said the City Clerk will verify the submission to the county before the statutory deadline.
