Raytown mayor thanks outgoing city administrator Damon Hodges and introduces Diane Edgar

At the June 3 Raytown Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Michael McDonough recognized City Administrator Damon Hodges for eight years of service and introduced Diane Edgar as the city’s incoming administrator.
McDonough praised Hodges’s role in securing grants and moving projects forward, saying, "we have done more in the last 8 years than we've done in the last 20" and thanking Hodges for his mentorship and contributions. Hodges, speaking to the board, reflected on his time with the city and expressed appreciation for staff and volunteers; he described the work as a formative part of his life and thanked the community and his family.
McDonough announced that Diane Edgar, the community development director, would take on the city-administrator duties; he said Edgar was chosen after a process in which she was selected from 32 applicants and noted she would work with Hodges in transition. Board members offered personal thanks and well wishes to Hodges and welcomed Edgar. The mayor also noted this meeting featured the city’s first appointment of a woman and first Black person in certain prior leadership roles as markers of the city’s changed leadership demographics over time.
Separately, the board presented a proclamation naming longtime resident Dave Thurman as Raytown Citizen of the Year; Thurman accepted and thanked the community.
