Aldermen approve $10,492.33 change order for Police Department Annex; project paid with ARPA funds

The Raytown Board of Aldermen voted unanimously May 20 to approve a change order for the Police Department Annex demolition and construction project that increases the contract by $10,492.33 to a total not to exceed $560,472.33.
Public Works Director Rob(inson) Camp described the additions: a dog run adjacent to the Police Department, an outdoor faucet for the dog run, a sink and eye-wash station on the community-development side to decontaminate evidence-handling staff, a mag lock for a security door, rerouting and insulating a water pipe to avoid freeze risk, electrical work to power an animal-storage refrigeration unit, and an enclosure to protect a water line from damage near a fingerprint machine. Camp said some items arose during closeout and design adjustments and explained prevailing-wage rules apply for contracts above $75,000.
Camp told the board, “We're trying to spend as much money of the ARPA funding…we don't want to send anything back,” indicating ARPA funds will cover part of the project costs. The change order draws on available project contingencies and ARPA allocations; Camp indicated roughly $4,000 remained in the project's contingency and additional ARPA dollars were available in related accounts.
A motion to approve the change order was moved and seconded and passed by roll call. The board recessed into a closed session after the regular agenda.
