Board approves up to $95,000 nuisance-abatement contract for mowing and trash removal

The Raytown Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a resolution on May 20 authorizing an agreement for nuisance-abatement services — including mowing and trash removal — in an amount not to exceed $95,000 for fiscal year 2024–25.
Community Development Director Diane Edgar told the board the city put the contract out for bid in March and received a single qualified bidder, the incumbent contractor. “This contract…the current contract expired in May. We put it out for bid in March. We received one qualified bidder, which is our current contractor,” Edgar said, adding the vendor did not increase prices.
The resolution authorizes the city to accept the contractor’s proposed terms; Diane Edgar stated the approval requires no additional budget appropriation because the city’s budget already covers the contract amount. The motion to approve was moved and seconded and a roll-call vote was recorded with aldermen voting in favor; the motion carried unanimously.
The contract covers routine nuisance-abatement activities that the Community Development Department manages. The board proceeded to other agenda items after the vote.
