Public Works Director Rob Camp told the board crews discovered a shallow sanitary sewer where the new stormwater line was planned, requiring the storm line to be placed below the sewer and the ditch to be enclosed in piping to ensure safety for pedestrians and vehicles. Camp said the change order amount arose from that unanticipated site condition and the need to enclose and pipe the ditch.
Aldermen moved and seconded the resolution after Camp explained the construction challenge and the safety concern for vehicles and pedestrians; the roll call vote approved the change order unanimously. Camp said the project is nearly complete and the additional work will allow staff to finish the job and close out the contract.
The board recorded the amended project total and approved the expenditure for fiscal year 02/2025.
