Raytown adopts 2025 multi-jurisdictional hazard-mitigation plan

Captain (presenting) described the plan as a periodic (five-year) regional product prepared through the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) and coordinated with county and municipal partners. The plan documents mitigation practices and regional priorities for severe weather and other hazards and is submitted to the Missouri Division of Emergency Management (CEMA) and FEMA for review and federal concurrence.
Alderman Myers moved for approval and Alderman Hayden seconded. Council members asked whether exercises or drills continue as part of preparedness; the presenter confirmed that exercises do take place on varying schedules. The motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
What happens next: adoption places the city on the regional mitigation plan, enabling coordinated preparedness work and maintaining eligibility for certain federal mitigation grants and programs when projects are later proposed.
