Raytown approves $46,543.61 payment for staffing study; budget amended

The Raytown Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a resolution Jan. 21 to spend up to $46,543.61 with the Marando Group to complete a city staffing study and amended the FY2024-25 budget to pay the invoice.
City Administrator Damon Hodges said the staffing study was included in last years budget for $75,000 but the final cost was substantially lower, allowing the payment request to move forward now. Hodges said the consultant conducted interviews with department heads and that the contract amount came in below the budgeted estimate.
Aldermen asked routine questions about the citys employee count and scope; Hodges said the city has roughly 130 positions included in the budget. After a motion and second, the board voted unanimously to approve the expenditure and budget amendment.
The resolution authorizes payment up to the stated amount and the city will proceed with any follow-up actions required by the consultants report.
