Planning commission asks staff to refine Appendix A submittal rules and return redline

The Hudson Planning Commission on Aug. 11 reviewed a subcommittee redline of Appendix A of the Land Development Code that updates submittal requirements and agreed to send the redline back to staff for revision.
Mr. Sugar introduced the work of a subcommittee formed in February. ‘‘The subcommittee met over a series of 3 meetings, March, April, and July,’’ he said, noting input from other boards including the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Architectural Review Board. Commissioners who served on the subcommittee summarized the draft and explained recommended edits.
Commission discussion focused on several practical changes: removing a site-staking requirement for minor development (the staff explanation was that minor proposals such as decks or sheds typically do not require licensed survey staking), formatting improvements to present sections with boxed checklists, and a possible new disclosure item for existing contracts related to a property (options, sale contingencies or service agreements). Ms. McCoy urged caution about omitting site staking because the commission had previously faced a case involving city property that required survey-level documentation.
Following discussion, a commissioner moved that staff make updates to the draft and return a cleaned-up version; the motion was seconded and carried 5–0. Staff will prepare the revised redline for the commission's next available meeting.
