Hudson planning panel approves Public Works site plan with conditions on parking, stormwater and materials

The Hudson Planning Commission voted 5–0 on Feb. 19 to approve a major site plan for a new City of Hudson Public Works facility at 5431 Hudson Drive, subject to a set of conditions addressing materials, stormwater engineering and a modest reduction in paved parking on the site’s south side.

The commission’s decision came after a presentation by the project team and a 90‑minute question-and-answer period that ranged from façade materials and clear‑story glazing to wetlands protection, stormwater detention and how many parking spaces the city needs. Commissioner Romano moved approval and the motion passed unanimously after commissioners added conditions requiring rim and invert elevations for storm and sanitary sewers, revised contours on the southeast gravel yard and a plan to reduce one full row of south-side parking.

Why it matters: the 30.7‑acre site is planned to consolidate street maintenance, stormwater, water distribution, fleet services and part of Hudson Public Power into an approximately 80,000‑square‑foot maintenance and administration complex.
