Hudson previews Sept. consent agenda and multiple bond/note ordinances

At the Aug. 26 workshop, Hudson council reviewed items slated for the Sept. 2 consent agenda and a longer list of first‑reading ordinances scheduled for early September.
Items on the Sept. 2 consent agenda include acceptance of the July 2025 monthly financial report, preliminary engineering agreements with the Ohio Department of Transportation and Norfolk Southern for the Hineshill Road grade separation, and resolutions and contracts related to the State Route 303 safety improvements. Council also previewed a resolution to sell roughly 0.1705 acres of city property and a resolution to purchase and install an ADA‑accessible kayak ramp at Hudson Springs.
Council then reviewed multiple proposed bond/note ordinances set for first readings, including: issuance of $740,000 in taxable economic‑development bond anticipation notes for acquiring roughly 4 acres near Owen Brown and Morris Road; $925,000 for acquisition at 94 Owen Brown Street; a not‑to‑exceed $7.1 million note for improvements at 5810 Hudson Drive (salt storage and bus maintenance); bond issuance up to $3,295,000 to acquire parcels identified by the Summit County fiscal officer; anticipated notes not to exceed $31,000,000 and other bond measures for a new public works facility; $2.7 million for a new clubhouse at Ellsworth Meadows; $2.7 million for multipurpose trail and park improvements; $1 million for a multipurpose trail along Valley View Road; $5 million in notes for fire/EMS facility improvements; $7.5 million in notes for velocity broadband fiber system expansion and related equipment.
Council members asked procedural questions about accelerating items to the consent agenda when appropriate; one member suggested moving the inclusive playground referral forward to consent to keep the project on schedule. These proposals were listed for first readings in September and will return to council as formal legislation for action.
