Hudson council postpones vote on zoning changes for kennels and veterinary facilities after wide public turnout

Councilors on Tuesday postponed final action on proposed zoning amendments that would change where boarding kennels, veterinary facilities and pet-grooming businesses can operate in Hudson.
The public hearing on ordinance 25-92 drew more than a dozen speakers. Dr. Dan Bestick, a Hudson veterinarian, urged council to reject a blanket 300-foot setback for veterinary-related uses and argued that facility design, conditional-use review and operational standards can manage barking and other concerns. "These measures demonstrate that the responsibility of the facility design can effectively manage the noise without requiring these excessive setbacks," Bestick said during his testimony.
