Brook Park’s council adopted several measures on Sept. 2, each on suspension of the usual reading rules.
Stormwater easement (Resolution 20-2025): Council approved a resolution granting a stormwater access easement at 5370 West 130th Street. The resolution was moved, rules were suspended and the measure passed by roll call.
Weed-cutting charges (Ordinance 11485-2025): An ordinance authorizing the city to return charges for city-performed weed cutting to the Cuyahoga County fiscal officer and to place those charges on the county tax duplicate was adopted. Mayor Orcutt said eight properties were affected with a total cost of about $4,500; the largest single charge listed was $900.
McGovern Park playground (Ordinance 11486-2025): Council adopted an emergency ordinance authorizing a contract with GameTime to purchase and install playground equipment at McGovern Park. The total project estimate listed in the exhibit was $175,198.08; the legislation would commit $117,519.97 now because a grant or vendor discount would reduce the city’s net cost by approximately $63,703.76. Material surcharge ($4,025.65) and freight ($2,000) were shown separately in the exhibit.
All three items were adopted on suspension of the rules and approved by roll call votes during the council meeting.
