Board approves continuation of student mental-health services and temporary tech support
Summary
Trustees approved a contract continuation with Wellness Counseling Solutions LLC for student mental-health support and contracted temporary tech services from a regional cooperative while the district recruits a permanent tech employee.
The Tiffin City Schools board approved two personnel-service agreements and several consent-agenda items during its October meeting.
Trustees voted to continue a contract with Wellness Counseling Solutions LLC to provide mental-health services to students. The superintendent described the action as a continuation of an existing collaboration (a provider name change from a prior arrangement) that ensures ongoing access to counseling and supports the district's commitment to educating the whole child. "This is a continuation of the contract that used to be under Y and D. It's a name change," the superintendent said.
The board also approved an agreement with the Northwest Ohio Area Computer Services Cooperative to provide temporary technology support while the district continues recruitment for a vacant tech position. The superintendent said outside help was needed because of a backlog of work orders, which had fallen from 131 to about 83 after recent efforts.
The items were moved and seconded and were approved as part of action and consent-agenda votes. Board members acknowledged multiple donations to athletics and school programs and thanked community donors, including Stephen Hickey, Tom Muschow and the Tiffin Columbian Alumni Association.
