Staff updated the governing body on the city’s 50th anniversary schedule and logistics during the June 3 meeting.
Sarah Barnett, Chief Operations Officer, reviewed events and dates: a flag-raising and reception on July 1, a city parade on July 5 (about 0.8 miles ending just past City Hall, 9–11 a.m.), and a Fire & Fiddle Fest on Oct. 4 (11 a.m.–4 p.m. at Costello Park). She reported attendance and revenue figures from prior kickoff events and craft fairs (e.g., about 350 patrons at a March craft fair and $1,625 in rent revenue) and provided rough cost estimates for upcoming events, including staffing overtime and entertainment (personnel costs ~ $4,500 for the parade; Fire & Fiddle entertainment estimated at about $10,000).
Barnett asked council to consider moving the July 1 reception from Costello Park to City Hall if RSVPs remain low; council discussed timing in relation to the regular council meeting schedule. Staff also described a food-truck tasting-ticket concept and potential vendor contests for the October event, noted constraints from ABC regulation changes that could limit alcohol sales, and said they are exploring an online museum of historical materials via a JotForm submission tool. Staff expects to finalize some logistics and bring further details back to council as the events approach.
