Community development staff told the Planning Commission on Feb. 12 that the department received a rezoning application for vacant parcels at the corner of Digital Drive and Manassas Drive proposing 86 fee'simple townhouses.
"The proposal is for 86 townhouses," staff said, and added that the application materials have been distributed to reviewers and the review process will take a few months. Staff said the development is expected to return before the commission in 2025 once initial comments are processed.
The staff update also announced a new code enforcement officer. "Her first name is Eva, and I'm not gonna, say her last name because I will completely butcher it," a staff member said, adding that Eva started a few weeks earlier and will assist with the comprehensive plan update. Staff anticipates outreach and initial public work on the comprehensive plan update in late February or early March.
A commissioner asked whether site work related to Park Central, including a proposed movie theater, will come before the commission; staff confirmed a site plan for the theater will be submitted and scheduled for commission review when ready.
Procedural items at the start and end of the meeting: the commission approved the meeting agenda (motion carried unanimously), adopted the Dec. 11, 2024 minutes (motion carried with four votes in favor and one abstention) and adjourned at roughly 7:32 p.m.
