Council hears second public hearing on theater parcel after boundary adjustment; vote postponed

The governing body held a second public hearing Jan. 28 on the sale of a parcel intended for a movie‑theater anchor in the Park Central Plaza area. Dean (city attorney) said a boundary‑line adjustment recorded that day increased the parcel to about 79,059 square feet from roughly 70,000 square feet and asked council whether it preferred to vote tonight or wait while staff circulates an amended purchase‑and‑sale agreement and the recorded plat.
Dean said staff prepared a first amendment to the purchase‑and‑sale agreement to reflect the newly recorded land area and revised recital language. He presented revised deed language and asked council to either approve the amendment tonight (post‑closed session) or defer to the next meeting to allow time to circulate redline documents and give the public notice. Staff noted that the recorded plat image might not yet be available online and offered to email it to council members.
Council members expressed a preference to wait and allow more time for review and for the public to comment. One council member requested a graphical display showing the additional 9,000 square feet; staff agreed to provide that and the redline amendment before Feb. 4.
No members of the public offered comment during the hearing. Council moved to close the public hearing and the presiding officer said both sales (the earlier Northfield hearing and this theater parcel matter) will be voted on at the Feb. 4 meeting after council review of the amended documents.
