The Manassas Park governing body on Feb. 4 authorized a task order with Bowman Engineering to update the Rugby Road storage-yard design and add a modular building to store emergency water-system materials.
Alan (city staff) described the purpose: the city uses the Rugby Road yard to stockpile bulk materials for public-works repairs, and recent storms highlighted the need to store specialized water-system materials (pipes, valves, fittings) to support emergency repairs when regional supply chains are constrained. Bowman—s proposal included modular building and pre-construction services for $20,783.25 plus optional design and construction-management services, with a total task order not to exceed $52,855.53 including contingencies and reimbursables.
Staff said the task order is included in the department budget and recommended the city manager be authorized to sign task order number 2024-18. The governing body approved the authorization by voice vote.
Ending: Staff will proceed with the task order and return any major contract amendments to council as required.
