According to the Commonwealth's Attorney, Jennings and the Saltville Police Department encountered communication challenges with a deaf individual suspected of driving under the influence; Jennings promptly provided interpretation services at the Smith County processing center that helped officers determine the individual was not intoxicated and avoided an unwarranted charge. The Commonwealth's Attorney read a certificate into the record and presented a challenge coin as an expression of thanks.
The board and attendees thanked Jennings for her volunteer service and for helping safeguard due process for a vulnerable member of the community.
