At its Monday meeting the Maplewood City Council approved the consent agenda covering routine business and heard administrative and council presentations on upcoming budget work and local projects.
City administrative staff previewed the city’s budget schedule and said an Oct. 13 presentation will include a 10-year financial model to frame revenue and expenditure implications. Staff also noted the Century Ponds development is expected before the council on Oct. 27, and that a transit discussion is planned for December or, if necessary, January 2026.
Council member Lee Juniper reported on the grand opening of the Juniper, a 65-unit deeply affordable housing development, and described upgrades at Keller Park including five new Tulu courts, two volleyball courts, an updated archery range and a pavilion; he said Ramsey County and the state contributed $3,000,000 to the park project.
On the consent agenda, staff explained item G6 (build-out tied to the Metro INET lease). According to staff, bids were solicited for roughly 2,600 square feet and the recommendation was to award the work to Alan Dorney Construction; Metro INET will contribute about $7,000 toward a total recommended contract amount not to exceed $23,949.83. The consent agenda passed on a voice vote.
The meeting closed after the public hearing and the council adjourned with no unfinished business on the published agenda.
