Mr. Darrow presented the lease and said the city attorney had reviewed it; Councilmember Ginnaman moved approval and Councilmember Lee seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
Metro INET provides information‑technology services to about 33 area communities and non‑profits; the proposer had looked at multiple sites and selected space that was vacated from the community development department. Staff noted Metro INET needed additional space and that the city had completed preparations including vacating the map storage room and readying the site for occupancy.
Terms and context: Staff said the lease would begin Jan. 2026 and run through Dec. 2030. City staff flagged that a city representative (Mr. Fultz) serves on the Metro INET board and that he will participate in the Metro INET board’s approval of the arrangement when that board meets. The presentation highlighted interdepartmental coordination (public works, planning and IT) to ready the facility.
Fiscal effect: The lease provides a modest revenue stream to the city’s facilities portfolio and repurposes underused office space. Council did not debate lease terms at length and voted to approve the agreement.
