Maplewood council approves consent agenda, reviews budget outreach and spring‑cleanup results

The finance director presented a high‑level first‑quarter report showing general fund expenditures near 98% of expected levels for the year; the council discussed that a council administration line appears high (about 137% for the first quarter) because annual membership dues were paid up front. Mayor Abrams encouraged residents to use the Maplewood Living portal and QR code to participate in budget surveys and attend upcoming events (Lake Phelan Water Fest on May 31; Fire Station bike rodeo June 7).
Councilmember Juneman reported spring-cleanup results: roughly 333 cars; 4,500 pounds of shredding; 135 mattresses; 148 tires; 651 pounds of clothing; $375 in cash donations; and 140 pounds of food for local shelves. The council thanked staff and volunteers for organizing the event.
