Committee sets Oct. 9 public meeting for Highway 47 as staff recommends 20‑year sales tax term

“That is going to be October 9 … from 03:30 to 6 at the Union Community Center,” Jordan Delaveras said, announcing the next public meeting for Highway 47 and the materials that will be shown to the public.
Jordan said the community advisory group's input will be condensed into an accessible public display and that public comments will feed into the project delivery decision; construction funds for Highway 47 are programmed in fiscal year 2028.
Staff briefed the committee on plans for a half‑cent capital improvement sales tax renewal and said its current recommendation is a 20‑year term from 2030 to 2050. "The recommendation from staff at least is a 20 year term from 2030 to 2050," staff stated, noting the tax proceeds would support a range of capital projects, including transportation matching funds with MoDOT.
The committee reviewed the Franklin County/MoDOT high‑priority unfunded list and identified Highway 100 intersection and pavement improvements (Route KK to Washington Crossing) as currently unfunded; staff emphasized the need to partner with MoDOT for cost‑share arrangements.
No formal vote on the sales tax or on a project delivery decision for Highway 47 was taken at this meeting; staff will continue outreach and bring information to the committee ahead of any ballot or formal action.
