Appointment • John Passwaters — The council moved and approved the appointment of John Passwaters to the Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission, effective Sept. 1 through June 2026, after a statutorily required public interview.
Leases and real estate • Milton medic lease renewal — Council approved renewal of the one-year lease (with two one-year renewals) for the Milton medic unit at its current location. • KTM 2 LLC (d/b/a AeroSafety Device) — Council approved a lease in the Delaware Coastal Business Park at 21646 Baltimore Ave. for manufacturing and distribution. • Delaware Coast Line Railroad Co. — Council approved a lease renewal in the Delaware Coastal Business Park for railroad construction/repair and boat rehabilitation uses. • Atlantic Contracting & Material Co. Inc. — Council approved a temporary office lease at 8 Mulberry St., Georgetown, for the company tied to trail construction.
Engineering & airport • JMT Amendment No. 3 — Council approved Amendment 3 to the engineering contract with Johnson, Mirmoran and Thompson for an infrastructure evaluation and valve-exercising program not to exceed $613,880. • Delta Airport Consultants Task Order 7 — Council approved task order No. 7 for an FAA-required emissions inventory study not to exceed $21,000 (county expects 90% reimbursement when a grant offer is received).
Capital projects • Lockwood Community Area Sewer Expansion — Council approved final balancing Change Order No. 5, decreasing the contract by $380,049.50, and granted project closeout with substantial completion dated June 10, 2025.
Conditional use & amendments • Conditional Use No. 2584 (outdoor athletic field) — Council adopted two amendments (driveway material and siting of activities on Lot 10B) and approved the conditional use as amended; recorded votes cite the planning & zoning record.
Grants • Western Sussex Chamber of Commerce — Council approved a $1,000 grant for the Broad Creek Bash. • American Cancer Society (Sussex County Relay for Life) — Council approved a $1,500 total contribution composed of $300 from each district, as in prior years.
