Greene County's economic development committee on Nov. 17 authorized steps to close out a Community Development Block Grant–Economic Development award for Great Willow, a new business owned by Heather Kookasaki on Route 81.
James said the county had reviewed Great Willow’s expense documentation and job-creation paperwork and deemed the project fully fundable. He reported the county remitted the full $179,000 award after verifying the required paperwork. To complete administrative closeout, the committee authorized a second public hearing in December to receive final public comments on the grant closeout.
Committee members voted in favor of holding the hearing and advancing the closeout resolution. The action does not create new funding; it authorizes administrative closure and public notice consistent with CDBG requirements.
The county will post a public hearing date and accept comments at that time before finalizing administrative closure of the award.
