Board approves county attorney contract, ADP HR contract funding and joins opioid settlement; appoints Tiffany Haines

The King George County Board of Supervisors approved several administrative items during the meeting.

County Attorney: Richard Stewart, who had been serving as interim county attorney, presented a revised contract with modest increases to align his compensation with comparable counties. The board voted to ratify the contract; a roll-call vote recorded 'aye' votes from Stroud, Collins, Bender, Sullins and Chair William S. Davis.

Opioid settlement: The board heard from staff about participation in a multi-state opioid settlement involving multiple manufacturers. Counsel said the state attorney general has encouraged counties to enter the national settlements; the board approved a resolution to participate. Staff cautioned that timelines and distribution of settlement funds remain part of a larger process and that exact amounts and timing are not yet known.

ADP/NeoGov contract funding transfers: Staff requested a supplemental funding approval to implement an ADP/NeoGov human-resources software contract with a five-year price lock. The board approved transfers of $28,000 from the HR operating budget and $745,914 from the capital improvement plan construction line and authorized the county administrator to execute the contract subject to county attorney approval.

Appointment: The board also approved the appointment of Tiffany Haines to the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board by voice vote.
