Supervisors adopt resolution exempting new Fire Station 2 from certain state energy and EV infrastructure mandates

King George supervisors adopted a resolution on Aug. 5 exempting the design of the new Company 2 fire and rescue station from specific Virginia code energy‑efficiency and EV‑charging infrastructure requirements on the basis that the mandates are impracticable for critical emergency services facilities.
Project architects and county counsel recommended the exemption after reviewing the code and identifying the statutory findings the board must make. The staff memo described continuous power demands, specialized operational needs and vehicle/equipment considerations for emergency services as the rationale for the targeted exemption. Counsel confirmed the board has authority to make the required findings and adopt the resolution.
A motion to adopt the resolution was made and passed by the board.
