Hamilton, who joined the authority two weeks earlier, said his immediate priorities are employee safety training and staffing, and he outlined operational reviews of billing and administrative processes. He told the board he is assessing water loss in the Dahlgren system, noting recent hydrant and leak repairs and that the authority is exploring professional audits to reconcile treated volume with billed usage.
Hamilton highlighted a submeter pilot program for irrigation-only water to improve billing accuracy and said he is pursuing grant opportunities with DEQ to help fund plant upgrades and a possible septage receiving facility. He told supervisors he is reviewing on-call and emergency sewage-haul contracts, the water master plan and several infrastructure projects.
The board voted to appoint Hamilton as secretary of the King George County Service Authority board of directors following the Service Authority’s internal motion.
Board members asked Hamilton to return with specific grant deadlines and a water-loss update at the next meeting.
