The Buchanan County School Board approved a slate of routine items on its consent agenda, including minutes from the previous three meetings and payment of bills (one exception noted for Southern Gap). The board accepted resignations, retirements and transfers as presented.
Personnel committee recommendations were approved: Mariah Harmon (speech-language pathology), McKenzie Justice (behavior intervention specialist), Peyton Hall, Rebecca Pittman and Necosta Coleman (special-education teachers), and Jenny Hall and Megan Schrader (school nurses). The board also authorized bus-driver contracts to Jeremy Ward and Serena Ford to fill two retirements and moved several guidance counselors (including Samantha Ferguson and Erica Owens) to 11-month contracts.
Following closed session, the board considered Change Order No. 4 related to the project’s early soft package; a board member moved to approve the change order. The motion was seconded and recorded votes included multiple yes votes and at least two recorded no votes; the change order was approved in the meeting record. A single student transfer (Grundy High to Hurley) was also approved after discussion of family hardship.
