Food services: The high school experienced a failure in a walk‑in freezer and an associated refrigerator unit; the freezer’s outdated refrigerant requires replacement of key components rather than a simple part swap, and the director said he expected an installation timetable within a week. An outdoor freezer replaced last year is now functioning, ending the need for emergency freezer trucks.
Procurement review: The division is undergoing a routine three‑year procurement review by CNR, an external auditing contractor for VDOE; the director said most materials were already submitted and staff were addressing follow‑up fine‑tuning questions.
Safety and security: The operations update described a planned rollout of an “open gate” weapon‑detection system. The director reported a recent successful trial at the primary school, called the safety committee’s monthly role a sounding board for new measures, and thanked local police for supporting lockdown and other drills.
Facilities and projects: HVAC work is complete; roofing repairs are holding; lab testing related to tennis‑court work is complete and the division awaits a report to guide next steps.
