The Poquoson City Public Schools Board elected Dr. Burbridge as its chair and Mike DeBose as vice chair during its annual organizational meeting on Aug. 19.
Board members nominated and seconded both officers; the chair vote was recorded as 6-0 and the vice-chair vote carried 6-0. After officers were chosen, Chair Burbridge proposed assignments to standing committees including New Horizons, the Poquoson Education Foundation, the Special Education Committee, WHRO board representation, VSBA delegates, the School Health Advisory Board, the Gifted Education Advisory Committee, the CTE advisory committee and the district safety committee. The board moved to accept the slate of committee appointments as read and approved it by roll call.
The board acted on these organizational items at the start of its meeting as part of routine annual business; no amendments to the committee slate were made during the omnibus vote. The board then proceeded into its regular meeting agenda.
