Commission approves multiple plats, CUPs and right-of-way vacations; adopts CMAQ dust mitigation application

The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners approved a batch of land-use and administrative actions on Aug. 5, including plats, conditional use permits, subdivision approvals and several right-of-way vacations.

Planning staff presented multiple items that drew short public hearings and questions from neighbors and commissioners. The board approved the Buckingham Iron preliminary plat (six commercial lots), a conditional use permit (CU-25-001) for an outdoor paintball and responder-training facility (with four conditions including waste handling), and a conditional use permit for the Brennaman event venue (with six planning conditions). The Wolf Minor Subdivision was approved with three conditions recommended by planning and zoning. These votes were taken after the required public hearings.

Engineers and staff also briefed the board on several right-of-way vacation resolutions (portions of Fifteenth Street in the Downers addition) and the board adopted the resolution to vacate the identified parcels while reserving easements for existing utilities where needed. The board adopted a CMAQ application resolution (25-08-020) to request $325,600 for a dust-mitigation project on county roads, with a county match of $81,400 if awarded.

Finally the board approved a partial release of a sewer and waterline easement affecting Lot 18 in the Mountain Shadows subdivision after county staff verified the lines are not used on that lot and the county has no present need for the easement.

All of these routine planning, zoning and right-of-way items were approved by voice vote according to the meeting record.
