Airport manager seeks permission to refill position; board approves overlap for training

Sheridan County airport manager Robert Dale told the board he issued RFPs for two hangars that will soon be available (a Business Park hangar and the Avcon hangar next to Big Horn Airways) and requested permission to refill an airport employee who has provided notice of relocation. Dale said the county recently amended a memorandum of understanding related to SkyWest air service and reported positive revenue credits in June and July.

Dale asked to refill the vacant position and requested overlap so the departing employee could train a successor ahead of winter operations, including snow removal duties. A commissioner moved to allow the airport manager to replace the budgeted position and provide overlap for training; another commissioner seconded the motion. The board approved the motion by voice vote; the chair declared the motion passed.

Dale also announced a free public airport open house with an aerobatic show scheduled for a Saturday and said he will pursue applicants for the vacant position, noting prior strong applicant pools and that hiring may be possible soon. He requested the board’s approval to refill the position to avoid excessive overtime and to ensure emergency readiness.
