County staff explained the interest balance resulted from ARPA funds set aside for an attainable housing reserve; the treasurer asked to clear the small reserve because ongoing accrual complicates accounting. Commissioners discussed options including transferring the interest to the general fund, earmarking it for renovation projects or creating a special account. One commissioner recommended earmarking the money for a particular improvement project, while staff noted that moving the funds to the general fund would be an ordinary budget amendment.
After discussion a commissioner moved and another seconded a motion to use the funds to replace a needed planning and zoning vehicle; the motion passed by voice vote.
