Jesse and County Election Officer Tisha Thomason told the board that a Homeland Security walkthrough identified the hallway outside the elections office as the only area without camera coverage and recommended locking improvements to reduce access risk to systems used for state voter registration.
Thomason said the ask would include one camera and two lock replacements that could be integrated into existing systems; she noted prior grant denials where other grants had been awarded and that the project would be eligible for partial or full funding. "We do not have a camera, security camera in the hallway that is immediately out this door," Thomason said, explaining the vulnerability.
A motion to allow Jesse to submit the SHSP application was made and seconded; commissioners voted in favor and the motion passed. The board instructed staff to pursue the grant application and return for board signature if funding is awarded.
