Sheridan County commissioners voted to approve a $173,963.89 contract with SWCA Environmental Consultants to revise the county’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan, a project tied to the state forestry grant program.
The contract covers revisions requested by the county as part of the 2024 CABDG plan administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments Forestry Division. County staff said SWCA’s original scope included creation of a website and portal for tracking project tasks; that task was removed and scope altered before the final contract amount was set.
Cameron, speaking for staff, said SWCA had initially bid roughly $132,000 and the county asked the consultant to come in nearer $118,000 with a trimmed scope; the final contract amount reported to commissioners was $173,963.89. A commissioner moved to approve and authorize the chairman to sign the contract; the chairman seconded and the motion passed.
County staff said final selection of any professional services under qualification-based RFPs will use scoring and then contract negotiation on fees. The board did not attach additional conditions to the contract at the meeting and voted to proceed. The contract award is expected to move forward under the state grant framework.
