Jeff Adkins of the St. Joseph Parks Department introduced representatives from the statewide parks association and Friends of Krug Park, noting the group was recognized at the recent state parks conference in Branson.
A presentation described Friends of Krug Park as a grassroots volunteer organization founded in 2012 that partners with St. Joseph Parks and Recreation to preserve Krug Park. The presentation said members helped secure more than $12,000,000 in funds to restore and enhance the park and organize events such as Krug Parkapalooza, vendor fairs and family programs. The council congratulated the group and accepted the citation.
Representatives from the association and Friends of Krug Park spoke at the meeting and the council thanked them for volunteer leadership; no budget or ordinance action accompanied the recognition.
